Salzburg Gains New Flights for Ski Season

Air Berlin has announced a new service to Salzburg running between December 2010 and March 2011

Salzburg in Austria is set to benefit from additional flights this winter, as the ski season starts and tourists begin to plan their winter break. A popular city for tourism throughout the year, adrenalin junkies are also lured to the area in search of the mountains and snow, and with Air Berlin's new service, British tourists have yet another travel option to the famed destination.

Associated by many with the 'The Sound of Music', Salzburg continues to draw tourism from the 1965 film. With Maria singing her way through both the hills and the city, film tours remain popular with many wishing to see the sights and locations for iconic scenes. Also Wolfgang Mozart's birthplace, the city attracts classical music lovers from all warps of life who wish to experience the surroundings that once inspired the legendary composer.

However, it is Austria's mountains that have motivated Air Berlin to unveil a new service from London Stansted running from 2nd December 2010 until 31st March 2011. Offering the service four days a week, the no frills airline will take passengers from the British airport from Thursday until Sunday, giving skiers the perfect travel times to get away for a ski break. Provided with free food and drinks onboard, 20kg of baggage, and allocated seating, the airline is also providing no charge for ski equipment, a feature which may prove highly attractive to many. Meanwhile, with ski resorts close to Salzburg itself, winter breaks can provide the thrill of the mountain, and the class of a beautiful city.
