Bulgaria, Europe's Rising Tourist Hotspot
Plovdiv is the second largest city in Bulgaria
The eastern European country of Bulgaria has emerged as a rising tourist hotspot after a survey of British travellers revealed that the country's beaches were some of the best around. Questioned on a range factors including climate, food quality and attractions, the Black Sea Coast ranked higher than destinations such as Sharm el Sheikh and Antalya.
With recent studies finding that Brits were becoming increasingly adventurous with their holidays, opting to travel and explore new countries rather than more traditional destinations, Eastern Europe has being doing well from increased traffic. And with the Centre for Economics and Business Research survey finding that the best beach holiday was found in Bulgaria, it seems that the nation could be set for soaring popularity
Whilst the Black Sea Coast continues to draw many to its large expanses of beautiful sandy bays and promenades, Bulgaria's capital city Sofia offers an urban retreat for those wanting more than just sand and surf. Often overlooked, the cosmopolitan city offers a range of interesting museums and alfresco dining experiences. Additionally, the Roman remains in the city of Plovdiv provides those looking for culture the perfect opportunity to delve into Bulgaria's past.
With a range of flights to Sofia from Luton, Gatwick, and Manchester available, a trip to the best beaches in Europe could be the ideal next holiday retreat.
