BA Reveals Flight Upgrades and Middle Eastern Plans
British Airways will be expanding its fleet of Boeing 777's as part of a multi million pound investment
British Airways has revealed details of its ongoing plans to overhaul its fleet and provide more access to the Middle East. Announcing that they planned to increase the frequency of flights to Riyadh, chief executive officer (CEO) Willie Walsh also explained the decision to spend millions on craft upgrades.
Speaking of the company's global aim to make travel for passengers easier, Mr Walsh explained that the recent approval of joint business with both Iberia and American Airlines would provide travellers a more expansive network to utilise. With London Heathrow in particular becoming an important hub for those travelling from the Middle East, and with the region becoming an "important market" it was vital to ease traveller access.
Amid the news that BA were to increase the number of services to Riyadh, Mr Walsh also explained the reasoning behind the multi million pound investments into cabin upgrades and fleet expansion. With Boeing 777-300s and A380's due to be delivered over the next few years, the CEO said that the new FIRST cabin was to be included on most of BA's long-haul aircraft. In addition he revealed that upgrading to new aircraft increased efficiency, conserved energy and made customer comfort better. "We believe that continuing to invest in our premium products is absolutely right," Mr Walsh explained.
The news will be welcomed by both business and tourist travellers from around the world who utilise BA's flights everyday. And with plans to upgrade their fleet and expand networks within the Middle East, BA's future looks set to make customer travel even easier than before.
