Flights to Munich Offer Oktoberfest Experience

With up to 6 million people attending every year Oktoberfest is the world's largest festival

With autumn quickly looming, people's minds are turning to that of October breaks and getaways. And with a host of flights to Munich available, the popular and famous Oktoberfest can be enjoyed by all.

Celebrating its 200th anniversary, Oktoberfest 2010 starts on the 18th September and lasts until the 4th October. Putting Munich on the map, the traditional folk festival combines traditional opening and closing ceremonies with fun fair attractions and lots of beer. Opening the first barrel of beer at noon, the Lord Mayor signals the start of the famous event, before 16 days of beer consumption and carnival fun entertains millions of people from around the globe.

At Munich's Oktoberfest, revellers can enter 14 giant beer tents, holding up to 100,000 people. And with approximately 5.5 million litres of 'March beer' being served, visitors to this incredible event can expect to taste traditional beers in a vibrant and exhilarating atmosphere. With beer at a relatively high 8per cent alcohol level, guests may want to take it easy, or opt for a shandy or two.  However, the event is not just for adults, with a six hour slot from midday on Tuesdays classed as "Family Days", there is fun for children and parents alike.

Flights to Munich are readily available from airports across Britain, including Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham. With economy and premium economy flights travellers can start their holiday in style, and once in Munich, take to the tents for two weeks of beer filled fun and relaxation.
