New England in the Fall, the Perfect Autumn Getaway
New England is famed for it's landscape, particularly during the autumn
When we think of holidays in the United States, most minds turn to a city lights, theatre, and shopping adventure in New York City or a sun and sand and Disneyworld excursion in Florida. But, when it comes to adventure and beauty, the USA holds many secret holiday delights - and one of them is New England during Autumn.
New England is the region of the US that lay between the Atlantic Ocean, Canada, and the state of New York. States within New England include New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. New England is the place where many of the earliest European settlers lived, including Pilgrims from England.
As a holiday destination, New England offers much to the UK traveller. The scenery itself is worthy of the trip; offering sites and colours like no other you've seen. In the autumn – what the American's call 'Fall' – the land is alive with russet reds, bright yellows, vibrant greens, and deep oranges. The foliage is simply amazing to behold. And then there is the tradition. There are plenty of day trips and excursions to be had where you can learn all about the early days in America's founding; after all New England is the place of its birth.
Of course, for the traveller seeking bright city lights, New York is right there; making it easy to include a day or two of theatre and shopping in your itinerary.
Flights to New York are available from London Heathrow as well as other major UK airports.
