Delta is the largest airline in the USA

Delta Airlines reported an increase in international traffic for August 2010 compared with August 2009. Amongst others, one reason given for the increase was the improved global economy.

As the largest US-based airline, Delta's traffic measures in the billions - with the 1.1 overall percent increase in passenger miles last month putting the airline at a total of 18.94 billion. This represents a 4.2 percent rise in international flights and 7.84 billion in international passenger miles (domestic USA travel accounts for 11.10 billion).

Overall capacity also saw an increase of 1.2 percent, largely due to Delta's expansion of international routes, Japan in particular. Load factor - the number of seats filled per each flight - remained steady at 86.5 percent.

Delta is expected to continue to see an increase in international airline traffic during the Q3 2010, based on several factors, including improved global economy, developments in business travel, and continued growth in international traffic. Delta is also investing in their services to provide customers a better flight experience.

Delta Airlines is based in Atlanta, Georgia and is the largest in the USA, providing regular air transport for holiday and business passengers as well as cargo both in the USA and around the world.

From the UK, Delta flies to major US locations such as New York, Boston, and San Francisco, as well as European locations such as Amsterdam and Paris from major UK airports including London Heathrow, Birmingham and London City Airport.
