Non Stop Flights Between London and Buenos Aires Due for March 2011

British Airways will commence direct flights to Buenos Aires from London Heathrow next March.

At a luncheon recently held in London, the Minister of Tourism for Argentina, Enrique Meyer and other guests launched Argentina's new plan to promote investment in the country's tourist trade; this includes the beginning of British Airways providing non-stop flights travelling between London and Buenos Aires beginning in March 2011.

"2011 will be the year of Argentina," Mr Meyer said.

Guests at the luncheon included a select group which included CEOs of hospitality and real estate conglomerates as well as private equity and investment fund directors.

Explaining the plan, Mr Meyer talked of significant investment in Argentina's tourism infrastructure and training, saying:

"Argentina has the best prepared and best educated population in South America. This translates into superior service and greater customer satisfaction.

"In 2010 one of every five tourists travelling to South America and one of every four dollars spent in the region will be in Argentina. Nevertheless, this is just the beginning, as tourism in Argentina will grow at a rate of 10% annually until 2020, compared with the world average of 4.1 percent."

Also announced at the luncheon was the British company Ready to Invest's plans for a $300 million US wine and lifestyle development in Tupungato. Other projects will be announced in the near future.

For UK tourists, Argentina has long been a favoured holiday location due to its varying climates – from tropical to temperate. Cheap flights are available from London to Argentina travelling via regional hubs including Rio De Janeiro and Sao Paulo.
