Iberia Launches New Flights to El Salvador
To accommodate the increase in passengers Iberia will use Airbus aircraft
Beginning on 2 October 2010, Iberia Airlines will begin offering regular connections between San Salvador and Madrid, making it the first European airline to directly connect those two cities. The new flights, which are planned for weekly operation (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday), will provide international travellers flying Iberia an easier and more straight-forward way to fly and connect between Europe and other Central America cities.
It is anticipated that with the new route, Iberia will be able to facilitate somewhere around 40,000 passengers during the first year. This includes provision of an Airbus A-340/300 aircraft with a capacity of 254 passengers, including 36 much-coveted, extra-roomy business class flat-bed seats.
The new flights are currently scheduled to depart at 19:40 each evening on the days specified from San Salvador, to arrive in Madrid at 14:15 the following afternoon. From Madrid, passengers will be able to connect to 41 European cities, including London and other UK locations.
For UK travellers, this new route will make more of El Salvador and the surrounding region easily accessible, making it more attractive as both a business and tourist destination. Amongst key attractions is the rich Mayan heritage, with sites over 3,000 years old on offer. The region also offers a fair share of pristine beaches, as well as the world's second largest barrier reef.
From the UK, Iberia currently flies direct to Madrid from London Heathrow.
