Croatia Remains a Hot Destination

Croatia Remains a Hot Destination
Zagreb at night

Zagreb is Croatia's capital as well as its largest city.

It has been revealed that large numbers of people are still searching for flights to Croatia, signalling that the destination still remains a popular holiday hotspot. With demand for flights to both Zagreb and Dubrovnik remaining strong, the lure of the Adriatic coast continues to attract large numbers of tourists.

Figures released by Balkans.com revealed that all of Croatia's major airports experienced notable rises in the number of passengers travelling through their gates at the end of the summer. In August, Dubrovnik Airport reported a rise of 21.7% in traveller numbers for the 2009 period, for a total of 250,000 passengers. Zagreb's primary airport also dealt with approximately 250,000 travellers, an increase of 4.8%. Split's central Dalmatian resort noted gains of 13.9%.

The news comes just as tourist trends reveal that British travellers are increasingly looking for new and exciting destinations to explore. While many travellers remain attracted to the climate and popular coastlines of Spain, Croatia offers similar conditions but with a cultural twist. Sailing in particular is a popular pastime for tourists visiting the Adriatic Sea, offering plenty of sun, sand and surf in this Eastern European country.

With an increasing number of operators offering flights to Croatia, it is unsurprising that passenger numbers are continuing to experience a rise to this ever-popular country. Croatia Airlines, British Airways and easyJet are all airlines that offer flights to Croatia from a range of British airports. Thanks to a range of competitive prices available throughout Britain, bathing in the Croatian sun could be only a short flight away.
