New Flights to Libya Revealed by Bmi

New flights to Tripoli will commence from 1st December

Airline operator Bmi has revealed it will begin providing flights to the Libyan city of Tripoli as early as December. The new services will offer greater flexibility for passengers wishing to travel from London Heathrow, and will allow greater access to the African country as a whole.

Bmi has confirmed that the service will commence on the 1st December, and noted that the new routes between Tripoli and Heathrow were being implemented primarily to provide oil workers with greater flexibility in visiting the city. Currently, professionals within the oil industry can fly with Bmi from Aberdeen to Heathrow, at which point they must be transferred to an alternative carrier. The new service marks an important step in improving flights to oil-rich countries for workers. A number of existing flights to Middle East ports, such as Riyadh and Jeddah, are already in operation, and the new routes will provide even greater flexibility.

Speaking of the decision to enter the Libyan market, a Bmi spokesperson explained that the new services would offer a greater number of options for both leisure and business passengers. Relations with North Africa have been steadily improving over the years, evidenced by routes already servicing locations such as Freetown.

As the Sahara Desert continually attracts more and more tourists, UK operators are increasingly keen to establish flights for those wanting to explore the region. With only limited options currently available to get to North Africa, those looking for flights to Libya will certainly welcome the wider range of options for travel.
