British Airways to Offer Direct Flights to San Diego

British Airways will offer direct flights to San Diego from June 2011

British Airways (BA) has revealed that due to joint business dealings with Iberia and American Airlines, it will begin offering direct flights from London to San Diego. Starting on the 1st June 2011, London Heathrow services will fly directly to the city using the airline's Boeing 777 aircraft.

Explaining that the new services were part of an ongoing venture between the three companies, BA's regional director of Western USA and Western Canada, Kevin Burns, commented: "Today's route announcement is an excellent example of how working together can benefit customers." He also added that the service marked the first time flights could be offered without passengers having to worry about which airline they book with, and where transfers or connecting flights were headed.

From next summer, the BA273 will depart Heathrow daily at 3.05pm, arriving at 6.15pm (PT) in San Diego. Return services on flight 272 will leave the American city at 8.05pm (PT), arriving back into London Heathrow's Terminal 5 the following afternoon at 2.25pm.

The aircraft will provide a total of 275 seats and three different classes, which include Club World, World Traveller Plus and World Traveller. Passengers travelling in Club World Class will also be able to access the San Diego American Airlines Admirals Club Lounge, which includes complimentary house wine, beer, and snacks.

For those planning on travelling to San Diego next year - either for business or pleasure - the sunny skies, sandy beaches and many attractions of this vibrant city will be but a single flight away.
