Sydney a Top New Year Destination
Every year Sydney hosts a spectacular Firework display over the harbour bridge
With October having already reared its head, many people will be thinking of their Christmas holidays and where they might want to be when 2011 rolls in. With many destinations around the world offering travellers some fantastic New Year's celebrations, the number of options available can often make it hard to choose. However, with its renowned summer weather and iconic landmarks, Sydney remains a popular hotspot among travellers wanting to welcome the New Year in with style.
As the New Year celebrations kick off, fireworks burst into life over Sydney harbour and the famous Harbour Bridge. With many Brits finding Australia a popular holiday retreat, visiting the country for New Years makes for a very special celebration. With the warm weather allowing travellers to escape from the cold British climate, there is little to put excited holidaymakers off from visiting this favoured destination.
While millions of viewers will no doubt be watching the stunning firework display on their television screen, Brits looking to experience the festivities first-hand can fly to the famous city via a range of operators, including Etihad and Cathay Pacific from London Heathrow.
Whether travellers choose to clamour to the Harbour and watch the fireworks for themselves, or watch them on TV first before joining the throng to party until dawn, a trip to Sydney for New Years will certainly be a memorable way of waving goodbye to 2010 and welcoming the start of a brand new year.
