Cuddle Class Comes to Air New Zealand Flights
Air New Zealnd will start using the Skycouches next month
Airline operator Air New Zealand has revealed that it will introduce a new class on its flights named 'Cuddle Class'. Starting next month, the new class will narrow the gap between economy and business class, more so than current standards, and allow for more comfortable journeys for the airline's travellers - without the expensive price tag.
Officially named Skycouches, the "Cuddle Class" seats are fundamentally a row of three seats located in the economy section that can be converted into one, large flat space to act as a bed or couch. Perfect for families or couples, travellers can book two seats and buy the third seat for half price, allowing fliers to create a flat space in which to relax and sleep during flights.
The move comes as the gap between economy and business class increasingly narrows, and cabin configurations are updated from the traditional three-class system. Such access is highly advantageous for travellers who may not be able to afford a top-of-the-range class, but are willing to spend a little extra for additional comfort.
Appearing next month on its Auckland to Los Angeles flight, Air New Zealand's "cuddle class", if successful, may well find its way onto various flights to London and other destinations around the world. With more and more UK residents looking for exciting destinations to travel to, often involving long flight times, such a class could prove highly popular.
