New Flights to San Juan Revealed by British Airways
British Airways will begin the new service to San Juan in April 2011
Popular UK airline, British Airways (BA), has revealed that it will add a new route to its itinerary utilising its recent business affiliation with American Airlines. The new service, due to begin next year, will make the Puerto Rico capital of San Juan available to people travelling from Gatwick Airport.
Speaking at the Barbados-based Caribbean Tourism Organisation Leadership Strategy Conference, chief executive of BA, Willie Walsh, announced that flights would go on sale from 11th October 2010, with the first services taking to the skies in the spring of 2011. According to Walsh, the new venture, which has been made possible due to a recent business collaboration with American Airlines, "will be able to offer through-connections to the British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Martinique, Guadeloupe, St Maarten and the US Virgin Islands of St Croix and St Thomas". He added that the new route will allow the airline to offer two centre holidays - an attractive deal for many tourists looking to visit more than one location.
The services to San Juan will commence from April 2011 (with a possible early start by the end of March that year), and will offer travellers a Monday or Friday service every week. The new flights will add to BA's current portfolio of Caribbean flights, which currently provides 55 weekly flights to 14 popular destinations.
