Royal Brunei Airlines Reveals New Flights to Melbourne
The new service between the UK and Melbourne will start in March
With Australia remaining a popular tourist destination among British holidaymakers, Royal Brunei Airlines has revealed new services from London to Melbourne. Beginning in 2011, the new flights will add to the services already provided by the air carrier, which currently offers travel options to Brisbane and Perth.
The service to Melbourne will depart from London Heathrow airport and fly via Brunei's Bandar Seri Begawan. While the new services not only improve upon Brunei's image as an accessible stopover point, the airline's executive vice president of commercial and planning, Riaz Moiz, also added that it will help to cover the increasing demand of flights to Melbourne.
Chief executive officer of Australia's Melbourne Airport, Chris Woodruff, also commented that the flights would offer a fantastic way for British tourists to experience the city and surroundings.
"This is great news for UK visitors to Australia, who can now enjoy the delights of the state of Victoria," he said, adding that guests would also have the option of spending a few days in Brunei before flying to their final destination.
Starting in March 2011, the service to Melbourne will see the number of weekly flights to Australia offered by Royal Brunei Airlines rise to 14. And with Australia remaining particularly popular among backpackers and older tourists alike, the airline is likely to note even greater demand for the island down under in the months to come.
