New Flights to Florence to be Launched

The service between London City Airport and Florence will start in January

Popular airline Air France has revealed that its subsidiary group CityJet is planning on launching new flights from London City Airport to Florence. Beginning in the start of 2011, the flights will provide the capital's residents with quick travel for an easy escape to Tuscany.

From January 10th, CityJet will offer a service six days a week from London's City airport, adding to the increasing number of routes already provided by the airport. Italy is ever-increasing in popularity among UK residents, largely due to its central location and easy access for those living in the British capital. The additional (albeit limited) service will be starting just after Christmas, allowing holidaymakers looking to escape Britain for a late Tuscan Christmas an easy way to embark on an extended New Year treat.

Discussing the additional services, Christine Ourmieres, chief executive of Air France's subsidiary CityJet, explained:  "With our convenient Florence schedule and 15-minute check-in, CityJet customers can travel hassle-free from the heart of London to the heart of Tuscany, spending less time at airports and more time enjoying their trip".

The announcement is likely to prove popular among UK holidaymakers, especially London residents who can finish work at the end of the week and simply hop onto a flight to the beautiful country of Italy. With services available throughout the week, the new flights to Florence will likely be in high demand among British travellers.
