Tunisia Gains Appeal as New Flights Increase
Tunisia was recently named the Tenth most popular UK tourist destination at the ABTA Travel Convention
Following a number of new routes to the North African country of Tunisia, the region's tourism trade has seen a 29% increase in visitor arrivals. With Tunisair previously introducing a London Gatwick service to Djerba, plans are now being set in motion that will add even more services from other British airports.
Located on the banks of the Mediterranean, Tunisia is fast becoming a hotspot among tourists looking for sun, sea and sand, but wanting something more than the obvious Spanish or Greek locations. The rolling sands of the Sahara desert can be found some distance away from the beautiful beaches, as can lakes teeming with flamingos and rich forests dotted around sporadically. While the country provides tourists with a very traditional cultural experience, Moroccan influence has also led to more hoteliers, retailers, and restaurants offering a higher quality service.
While Tunisair's current London Gatwick to Djerba service has added approximately 20% more passengers to the Mediterranean country, flight demand still remains high. In fact, so high is the demand that the airline is planning on introducing new flights from Manchester to Enfidha, providing an entirely new region to explore for customers in the North of England. With news that Jet2 is also looking to provide new services into the country, travel and tourism in Tunisia looks set to soar for 2011.
The ABTA Travel Convention has also recently named Tunisia as the tenth most popular UK tourist destination. As such, this North African country looks set in becoming an ever-more popular hotspot among British holidaymakers.
