Egypt could be an ideal choice for those wanting to get away to warmer climes this winter

With the British winter looming, many UK residents are looking to escape to warmer climes around the world. Whilst the Mediterranean continues to play an important role as a hotspot British winter destination, a number of locations further afield are also likely to see increasing popularity.

Revealing five top destinations which could prove very attractive as the dark nights draw in, The Guardian offered advice on alternative Mediterranean retreats. With November a particularly good time to find holiday deals, Goa is highlighted as a place of interest for those wanting a winter break, and by visiting now tourists will have avoided the sticky monsoon season of the summer months. Meanwhile Thailand's Phuket hosts the festival of light on November 21st, offering a fantastic event for an experience of a lifetime.

For Brits wanting to head west, Mexico's Cancun offers a party resort for people to let their hair down. And with America still very popular with Brits, a trip to Florida Keys could be the perfect remedy to the harsh British winter. Finally, for those wanting a shorter journey time, Egypt could be ideal with cooler temperatures and less crowds making visiting Luxor, Cairo, or Sharm El Sheikh more comfortable.

Whilst Christmas is traditionally a time where families come together to celebrate, with travel easy and many family members spread across the world, a growing number of people are taking advantage of festive season breaks. And with great deals to hot destinations across the globe, there is no reason to endure the Great British winter when a sunny beach could be only a day away.
