Brazil will host the Football World Cup in 2014

With London's World Travel Market finished for another year, the tourism industry is looking ahead to 2011 and the holiday hotspots of the future. As experts and insiders try to establish just where in the world tourists will be flocking, South America has emerged as a continent to watch. And with some of the most historic and cultural experiences around the world, in addition to Brazil's place on the world sports stage, there is a vast amount to occupy holidaymakers with.

Brazil in particular is likely to attract many over coming years, particularly as it is to host the World Cup in 2014 before showcasing the 2016 Olympics to the world. One specific destination to become a hotspot is that of Boipeba Island, a glorious exotic destination off the coast of Bahia. With flights easily found to Rio de Janeiro, transfers within the country are easily made. And with Boipeba's spectacular rainforests, mangroves, sand dunes, and pristine beaches, it is set to become a luxurious destination.

For those who want to explore South America's rich culture and past, Peru's Espiritu Pampa is a place to visit. As Machu Picchu celebrates its 100th anniversary of rediscovery, tourists wanting to explore further can experience Espiritu Pampa, a place believed to be the final Inca empire outpost. Whilst facilities currently remain limited, growth in tourism is leading to this popular site to be cleared, showcasing the beautiful outpost off to the best of its abilities. And with a range of indirect flights to Lima available from UK airports including London Heathrow, tourists could be surrounded by historical wonder before they know it.
