New Flights with Jet2 Announced

Jet2 will be introducing new flights to Budapest, Funchal, Salzburg and Geneva

Low cost and regional air carrier Jet2 has revealed that it is to increase the number of flights servicing Newcastle airport. With popularity for flights remaining high, the company will be adding a new Boeing 737 to its roster, increasing the capacity on its flight routes significantly.

After having a fantastic summer, Jet2 announced that it had carried approximately 2.8 million customers on its services from UK airports. With demand continuing to be high, the company said that it wanted to be able to increase its 2011 capacity by up to one million. Introducing a number of new flights servicing popular European cities such as Budapest, Madeira's Funchal, Salzburg, and Geneva, Jet2 boss Philip Meeson expressed that increasing services from Newcastle was vital. "We see Newcastle Airport as a really key location for us, hence we are introducing another aircraft, to operate additional destinations and increased flight frequency," he said.

In addition to the company increasing the number of flights on current routes, Jet2 also revealed that new destinations are to be added to its portfolio. Including cities such as Alicante and Krakow, the low cost airline will offer even more affordable fares to Brits, allowing for easy travel from a range of regional airports. Meanwhile, Newcastle's local economy is also set to benefit from the new services with up to 120 jobs being created in the area to sustain the increased work.
