Liverpool airport is the fastest growing airport in the UK

In newly revealed statistics, Liverpool John Lennon airport has been shown to be the fastest growing port in the UK. In the first nine months of 2010, the airport showed the greatest year-on-year growth of all other ports, signalling a positive future for both airlines and people living close to the area.

Conducting the survey, RDC Aviation, the airline industry consultants, showed that for the months January to September 2010, an extra 225,000 passengers had either arrived at, or departed from Liverpool. Despite early year crises, including bad snow and the volcanic ash incident, the airport continued to attract a large number of customers. One of 11 UK airports mentioned in the top 50, Liverpool's success was largely attributed to a specific number of carriers, notably easyJet, Eastern Airways, and KLM.

Speaking of the airport's success, chief executive of Liverpool, Craig Richmond, explained "Once again it's credit to all here at the airport that Liverpool continues to outperform other UK airports." He added that though the winter was expected to be quieter, he was positive that the airport would continue to make forward progress.

Such news will be very positive for all airlines using the airport, and locals in the immediate vicinity. With Liverpool showing strong growth, passengers can look forward to a continuation of services on their favourite routes. In addition, with carriers feeling positive about the stability of the port, a number of new routes and services could be added to the airport over the coming months.
