Sydney 2011 Festival to Draw the Crowds
Sydney Festival expected to draw crowds
For anyone looking for a winter escape, heading south to the other side of the world where the summer is just beginning is a huge attraction. Australia remains as popular a destination as ever and with the annual Sydney Festival due to start in January those looking for sun and fun would do well to fly to this iconic city.
An annual event which was first started in 1977 the Sydney Festival opens in January and runs for three weeks, and will attract thousands over the first two months of the year. Australia's most popular and annually attended event, the Sydney Festival offers visitors a cornucopia of cultural delights whether they are looking for theatre, dance, comedy, or even live talks and debates. Many events are completely free to attend, offering a wonderful bonus to those travelling at one of the most expensive times of the year. The First Festival Night on January 8th makes an explosive opening at the start of the year, whilst the Australia Day celebrations are held on January 26th with a boat race through the harbour along with city wide parties and festivities.
For anyone heading to Australia this Christmas, enjoying the Sydney Festival is a must. A fantastic range of airlines, including Qantas, Hahn Air, and Korean Air offer competitive fares on economy, premium economy and business class seats from London. And whilst a bitter winter may be hitting Britain, a list minute and fun filled trip to Sydney may not be as expensive as first thought.
