With many Brits currently looking for a quick winter escape Eastern Europe could be the ideal destination. And with a number of airlines including Jet2 offering modestly priced fares, escaping the cold weather could be cheaper than first imagined.
A destination rich in culture and history Prague is easily accessible from a range of British airports including London Luton, Birmingham and Manchester. The capital of the Czech Republic the city is regarded as one of Europe's most cultural destinations, and whilst it offers amenities and shopping up to the standards of other holiday hotspots, it is the historic attractions that are often most sought after.
A popular destination for many is the city's national museum which majestically stands looking over Wenceslas Square. Also the area of the main shopping district its situation is perfect for those who want to discover both retail and history. Meanwhile Prague's State Opera house is located down the grand parade, in addition to hundreds of other museums, concert halls, galleries and music venues that are spread throughout the city. Elsewhere, those interested in architecture will find some largely intact buildings. Escaping much of devastation of World War II many attractions including the Astronomical Clock and Old New Synagogue remain complete and undamaged.
For those wishing to escape the British winter and discover some European culture Prague is ideal. And with many airlines offering cheap travel, a luxurious break may not come with a luxurious price tag.
