Air New Zealand aims to provide a better service to passengers in all classes

Popular airline Air New Zealand has revealed that their recent installation of the "cuddle class" on its Boeing 777-300 is just the start of new innovations. Whilst the new class, which offers travellers to buy several adjoining seats which then turn into a bed, began in November 2010, the carrier has said that the changes are only just starting.

Whilst the new Boeing currently offering the service flies from Auckland to Seattle, Air New Zealand will be expanding the new features across their fleet. To be offered on five new planes initially the innovations are likely to be available to those travelling between Britain and New Zealand, providing increased comfort and fare variation for passengers.

Speaking of the new concepts Kerry Reeves, manager of aircraft programmes, said "What you see here is a start of the innovation process." Aiming to provide a better service to passengers in all classes aboard, Air New Zealand explained that by offering a premium economy they could ensure that passengers travelled in luxury for modestly priced seats. And whilst 'cuddle class' allows travellers to purchase a third cheaper seat which can then be used to create a bed, it is thought that the carrier are also looking at implementing twin bunks. Occupying the same space that the new Skycouch does, this option would provide even more comfort for those wanting to travel in premium economy. Meanwhile, with the 'cuddle class' seating remaining exclusive to the airline for 18months, those travelling on long haul flights with the firm will be able to take advantage of this new and innovative installation.
