Aer Lingus offer new flights from Gatwick

Following a number of new Gatwick based flights revealed by Aer Lingus last year, the airline have revealed that, from March, travellers will also be able to fly to Shannon. Adding the popular Irish destination to their Gatwick airport portfolio, the new route will be the company's ninth connection from Shannon.

In 2010 Aer Lingus opened flights to Shannon from four British airports namely Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow. It has now been revealed that the first flights from London Gatwick to the Irish destination will begin on March 27th, creating a popular route for both business passengers and holidaymakers.

Talking of the new route Aer Lingus' director of communications, Declan Kearney, explained "This new daily service will provide Aer Lingus customers with the first early morning flight from London to the Shannon region." He added that the route would add to the three options currently available from London Heathrow, creating a broader choice of travel options for passengers wanting to travel to mid-west Ireland.

The new connection will extend Aer Lingus' Shannon routes to nine, with New York, Boston, and Paris also linked to the airport in addition to the range of routes to British airports. Meanwhile it will offer brand new options for those wanting to visit this popular destination whether for business or tourism.  With a number of destinations also available, connections with Aer Lingus are likely to be a popular choice in 2011.
