Uganda set to enjoy tourism in 2011
With many British travellers looking to extend their destination hotspots and explore regions which are not as well known, 2011 is set to be a year where many locations off the beaten track are discovered. Whilst Africa may not be a first choice for travellers, capitals across the continent are likely to enjoy tourism increase through the coming year.
Uganda in particular has been hailed as a great destination to visit, with the capital Kampala as intriguing as many popular cities around the world. Not as battered as many may believe it to be, Kampala is actually full of modern buildings and has a vibrant and quintessential African vibe, making it the ideal city to explore traditional African culture.
Kampala is also perfectly safe for tourists who may be concerned about the political unrest often noted throughout African nations. A destination which is likely to be popular with backpackers or those travelling through a number of countries, Uganda's capital city also has a number of attractions to keep tourists entertained. Nommo Art Gallery, the Uganda Museum, and the National Theatre are all excellent places to explore, providing a real cultural setting for those visiting. Meanwhile a trip to the Namirembe and Rubaga cathedrals is well worth the trouble.
For those who want to travel to this vibrant city and beautiful landscape, a range of airlines including Kenya Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, and Egyptair offer flights from London. For those wanting an exotic and cultural holiday, discovering Uganda for the first time could be ideal.
