New Flights to Basel Arrive from SWISS

New flights to Basel have been introduced

It has been revealed that a new partnership between SWISS and bmi will offer a number of new flights to Basel. The introduction of the two new routes which will fly from Manchester and London Heathrow, will allow visitors easy access to one of Switzerland's most beautiful cities.

The new services to Switzerland will both begin on March 27th.  Whilst the Manchester to Basel route will fly daily Monday to Friday, Heathrow will benefit from three daily flights throughout the week with two services a day at the weekend.

Utilising bmi's Airbus 319, passengers wanting to travel on the new flights can expect both Business Class and Economy services, with departure times carefully considered to offer the best routes for both business and leisure passengers. Chief commercial officer for bmi, Joerg Hennemann, explained "From Basel you can reach some of the best skiing regions in Switzerland and enjoy easy access to Alsace and Germany's Black Forest due its unique location at the border triangle between all three countries." He added that business customers would also benefit from the frequent and direct flights to a major commercial Swiss city.

Coming into operation before April, country manager of SWISS's UK & Ireland activity, Felix Rodel, revealed that both routes would maximise capacity. Whilst Manchester would increase seat numbers by 84 per cent, switching Basel flights from London City to London Heathrow resulted in an 135 per cent increase.  With Basel being Switzerland's leading economic centre as well as a beautiful city, the new flights will be attractive for both tourists and business travellers.
