Hawaii makes it into the top ten American destinations

In a new list of the ten top locations to visit in America, Hawaii has taken three of the available spots. With the exotic destination a decadent retreat for many, the group of islands that make up the region have much to offer. So for those looking for glamorous and tropical holidays, flying to Hawaii could be the perfect location.

Recognised as the 'Best Island in the World", Maui tops the list of North American destinations. Flying into Kahului airport offers individuals the start of a truly stunning holiday. The western region of the island offers the finest in sandy beaches and underwater experiences such as diving and snorkelling. Meanwhile Maui's southern region promises gourmet restaurants and beautiful shopping districts. And with attractions such as active volcanoes, whale watching, golf courses, cruises, and water skiing on offer, tourists can experience far more than simply sunbathing on a tropical beach.

For travellers wanting to discover some of Hawaii's other offerings, Kauai and Big Island also made the top ten destinations. Geologically the most ancient island of Hawaii, Kauai's beaches, landscapes and valleys have featured in more than 70 Hollywood movies and offers stunning sights for visitors. Big Island meanwhile is the United States' largest island and currently has a number of active volcanoes. Geologists, scientists, and tourists flock to this island to try and catch of glimpse of spewing lava flooding down the side of volcanoes before hitting the sea.

For Hawaiian regions not accessible directly, travelling to Honolulu is easily done from London Heathrow. And for those wanting to explore top American destinations, visiting the islands of Hawaii will offer a tropical and inspirational island holiday.
