Mozambique a New Holiday Hotspot
Mozambique looks to be a promising holiday hotspot in 2011
Whilst Mozambique has been a popular holiday spot for South Africans, 2011 is set to see an influx of new travellers to the nation with British holidaymakers in particular seeking out the exotic climes of the country. Whilst travel to Mozambique is not as easy as it is to many locations, the holiday at the destination is well worth the effort.
One of Africa's most up and coming hotspots, Mozambique offers tourists stunning beaches, an Archipelago of small offshore islands to dive and snorkel through, and intriguing mangrove channels to explore by boat. The country is split into two distinctly different halves. The southern region is well developed, already offering comfortable accommodation for South Africans and the northern areas remain wild and rural.
Whilst this northern territory is largely unexplored, for travellers who want an exciting adventure a few eco-lodges exist, perfect for a slightly sophisticated twist on camping. This is also an ideal area from which to take in new and exciting sights. Meanwhile, the capital of Maputo offers one of Africa's most attractive cities, with markets, banana vendors, and jazz café's all providing interesting sights and attractions.
Whilst historical guerrilla wars have long since passed, access to Mozambique remains more challenging from the UK, with no direct flights on offer. However, travel via Nairobi and Johannesburg both provide the perfect means of transport, and for the willing tourists, Mozambique's beautiful charm can easily counter the travel difficulties. In fact, for some, it will make this natural nation all the more attractive.
