Delta is to offer an upgrade on economy class seats for international travel

It has been revealed by popular American airline Delta that they are to offer an upgrade on economy class seats for international travel. Called Economy Comfort, the seats will provide a couple of luxurious extras over and above that of normal economy which will help make long haul journeys more comfortable.

Many people cannot afford to upgrade to business class, and as such airlines have incorporated a new premium economy class between the two. This additional fare option allows customers to travel in a little extra comfort without breaking the bank.

For Delta, the class will be available from summer 2011 on a range of their long haul international destinations, offering travellers some extra choice when it comes to their comfort. Economy Comfort provides 50 per cent more space for reclining seating, as well as extra leg room, allowing people to spread out a little more.

Speaking of the decision to include the new seating option on their international flights the executive vice-president of marketing and network planning for Delta, Glen Hauenstein, explained that they were excited about the new customer option. “Economy Comfort is one of many elements Delta is committed to delivering to our customers as part of a more than $2 billion investment we are making in the air and on the ground to improve the customer experience and position Delta as a leader in customer service,” Mr Hauenstein revealed.  With Delta one of the most popular American airlines in Britain, offering flights to destinations such as Vancouver and Los Angeles, its innovative changes to its service will be welcomed by many.
