Boeing Unveils New Aircraft On The Lufthansa Fleet

Boeing has unveiled its latest aircraft, the Boeing 747-Intercontinental, which is to be Lufthansa's newest addition to their fleet. Revealing the new plane to 10,000 guests in Washington, the Boeing 747-Intercontinental breaks the record for length at 250.3 feet, and offers passengers the latest in technological improvements.

Currently, only German airline Lufthansa and Korean Air have ordered the latest offering from the aircraft manufacturer.  Both airlines hope that this addition to their fleet might work in their favour in luring new passengers on board. With 20 planes on order, Lufthansa will be the first company to start providing services on the new Boeing, installing their fully flat business class seats onboard. It is believed that the company may incorporate a Business Class only upper deck, along with additional business seats, First Class and Economy Class on the lower deck. With 80 business seats available on each plane, services are sure to be of great interest to those regularly flying with the firm.

The Boeing 747-Intercontinental has several new features, alongside the boast of being the largest passenger plane from the company, with the incorporation of both fuel saving and noise reduction. Legroom has been increased whilst the cabins feel more spacious, and entertainment features have been made more accessible and user friendly.

Meanwhile, Boeing has also done away with its traditional blue livery to replace it with a vibrant orange, a move which Boeing said was to signify prosperity. "The new 747-8 Intercontinental features the latest in innovative technologies - applying many of the breakthroughs also found on the 787 Dreamliner," explained vice president Jim Albaugh. "We think our customers will value the low operating costs and passengers will enjoy the comfort of the striking new interior."
