Economy Plus Plans Revealed By Continental
Continental Reveal Economy Plus Plans
Continental Airlines have revealed that they are to roll out premium fares on their flights as part of an initiative to offer customers more choice. Already proving profitable on sister airline United, the retrofitting of aircraft will begin next year, bringing passengers new options in how they want to travel.
The move by parent company United Continental Holdings is the first significant step in providing customers with comparable fares across their whole fleet of aircraft. Starting in 2012 the Economy Plus cabin will be rolled out across over 700 aircraft and jets in United Continental's fleet. The seats, which are situated ahead of Economy Class, provide additional leg room of five inches. Meanwhile, depending on the aircraft, there may also be additional options for in-flight entertainment. Bridging the luxury gap between economy and business, Premium economy flights can offer a more relaxed journey with better conditions in which to settle.
Talking of the important step Jim Compton, chief revenue officer, explained "Our customers value Economy Plus and the additional personal space that it provides. Customers who sit in Economy Plus are significantly more satisfied with their travel experience, as are travellers who choose other options that enable them to tailor their travel to their liking."
With more than 122,000 seats in this class to be offered per day when the retrofit is complete, those looking to travel on Continental Airline will see the benefits. So with comparable costs across brands, travellers will be able to more easily access premium economy fares.
