Kingfisher to Offer More Seats
More Seats to be offered on Kingfisher Airlines
It has been announced by Indian airline Kingfisher that they are to reconfigure their fleet so as to maximise space as much as possible. Even though the traditional peak travel season in India ends in April, the airline said that changing plane layouts would allow for more seats to be available to travellers.
As costs spiral for airlines due to the rising price of fuel, Kingfisher is to increase its seat capacity on planes as well as introduce new international routes by making use of current fleet aircraft. An anonymous executive from the firm confirmed that all Kingfisher Airbus SAS's were to be changed to dual class, including both First Class and Economy Class fares. "There were half a dozen Airbus planes that were all economy. Now we will introduce first class seats on it. At the same time, we will reduce number of first class seats to 20 from 32," he said, revealing that this would free up a further 150 economy seats on every flight.
Such a move will be vital for Kingfisher to enter the competitive aviation market in order to gain customers. Incorporating First Class cabins onto planes will enable premium travellers to fly in luxury for an increased number of routes. However, by reducing the number of cabins on several planes Kingfisher will also avoid flying services where much of the plane is empty. So for those travelling with the company from this April, the greater range of seats will have many benefits.
