Top Holidays for Royal Destinations
With the royal wedding on everybody's mind, Britain is currently gearing up to celebrate the occasion in style. So with this in mind, travellers who want to holiday in places that the royal family have also graced with their presence, will find several top spots around the globe that will fit the bill.
An unexpected but popular destination for many royals is Spain's Sotogrande. This Mediterranean retreat is close to Gibraltar airport and boasts a magnificently chic marina in addition to being away from the holiday masses. With polo grounds and a championship golf course nearby, there is plenty to keep guests entertained.
For more exotic holiday locations, places such as Thailand, Kenya and the Grenadines have all been enjoyed by holidaying royals. Mustique is an exotic island in the Caribbean's Grenadines and is a top favourite by royals and the rich and famous alike. St Lucia offers the nearest airport and whilst the island is privately owned, any holiday location in the near vicinity is likely to be a hotspot. Hugely poplar Phuket is also loved by royals and holidaymakers alike and with a fantastic range of flights and accommodation options, guests can live in as much or as little luxury as they want. Meanwhile, Kenya has also rocketed up the holiday hotspot list after Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton in the Lewa Safari park. And for holidays in Africa, cities such as Mombasa and Nairobi are popular and easily accessible.
