Loyalty Scheme set up for Manchester's Passengers

It has been revealed that individuals travelling through Manchester airport will now be able to join a loyalty scheme which could win them free flight tickets. Bmibaby, the airline behind the social media loyalty scheme have thought outside of the box and teamed up with location based network Gowalla, a company whose social networking website allows friends to share photo's, experiences and locations with one another.

In addition to a number of other travel hubs, bmibaby passengers using Manchester airport can register with the Gowalla network, adding their flights both before leaving and after landing. This will automatically include them in a prize draw which will see one individual win a pair of free flights. In addition, the airline also wants to develop a rewards system using bronze, silver and gold pins with associated prizes for each level. By working with Gowalla the team hope to integrate travelling around the world with ever popular social media networks, making travelling more enjoyable for all.

Speaking about the innovative scheme, managing director of bmibaby, Julian Carr, said "We are pleased to be working with Gowalla on this customer reward scheme. At bmibaby we embrace new social media initiatives. We believe this is a fun way in which we can offer our customers something extra." Elsewhere the airline also revealed that as part of their 2011 winter schedule they plan to start Toulouse and Chambery routes from East Midlands Airport, offering customers more travel choice for the winter season.
