Majority of British Travellers Visit Just Four Nations
Greece still remains a favourite for British Travellers
A new study has discovered that the majority of British travellers spread their holidays across just four of the countries of the world. In research revealed by The Co-operative Travel, 61 per cent of people enjoy regular getaways in Greece, Turkey, Spain or the US.
With economic difficulties impacting upon many individuals, one of the major findings of the research confirmed that cost played a vital role in holiday choice. 23 per cent of those asked, said that they travelled less than when they were children, explaining that cost was the major reason. However, with the travel industry not actively promoting lesser known destinations, British travellers tend to stick with the countries that they know and love.
Whilst Brazil was highlighted as a top wish list destination by those asked, places in Spain, Turkey, Greece and the US remained the major ports of call. New York City, Miami and Orlando are iconic American cities which many love to visit. Meanwhile, with cheaper Mediterranean holidays available, many holidaymakers opt to enjoy the blissful climates of Bodrum, Barcelona, Tenerife and Crete's Heraklion.
Trevor Davis, director of The Co-Operative Travel's retail distribution explained "People want to be sure that their holiday will be a success and the easiest way to ensure that is to stick to familiar destinations." And with popular locations the key to a good getaway, flights to these top locations will continue to be in strong demand.
