Honeymooning Couples Opt for Beach Retreats
Secluded Beach Retreats are Still Very Popular With British Honeymooners.
A new survey of over 3,000 individuals has found that British couples love honeymooning in beach paradises. Secluded romantic locations are highly sought after, with Holiday Extras revealing that 56 per cent of British newlyweds wanted sun, sea and sand for their post-wedding retreat as long as it was not in the UK.
With all four corners of the planet being more accessible than ever before, romantic spots can be found all over the world from the Caribbean islands of Antigua and Barbados to the rising popularity of Sri Lanka whose Colombo beaches are some of the most untouched in the world. Private beach villas, spending days away from busy city life, and having the ability to explore local culture or stay secluded are great attractions to newlyweds who want to spend their first days and weeks of married life together.
Holiday Extra's head of commercial, Sean Hagger, said "Your honeymoon should be the happiest, most relaxing holiday of your life, so it's natural that people want to spend it in a happy, relaxing place where they're guaranteed sunshine." However, the survey also discovered that 61 per cent of women wanted honeymoons by the sea compared to a lower 51 per cent of men. And with a third of men revealing they had never even thought about their honeymoon it seems that women continue to be the more romantic sex.
