Aberdeen Gets New Azerbaijan Service

Two Flights a Week to Baku From Aberdeen Have Been Announced by Azerbaijan Airlines

It has been revealed that Scotland's Aberdeen Airport is to enjoy a new long haul route to Azerbaijan.  Taking the opportunity to offer both tourists and business travellers a service to a new and interesting location, Azerbaijan Airlines will provide two flights per week to Baku.

Azerbaijan is currently regarded as one of the most important nations for new oil exploration and development, and for this reason it attracts a lot of business travellers.  Azerbaijan Airlines deputy director executive, Jamil Manizade, explained that Aberdeen remained one of Europe's oil capitals, and correspondingly the new flights would offer excellent connections for those in the industry.  "As well as offering a business class product, a code share with Eastern Airways enables us to offer connections to Norway and many parts of the UK," he added.

The new route will offer two flights per week on Sundays and Tuesdays aboard an Airbus A319.  This will provide 90 economy seats and 24 business class seats, offering ample choice for business travellers.

Talking of the new service Derek Provan, managing director of Aberdeen Airport, said "We are pleased to welcome Azerbaijan Airlines to Aberdeen Airport and we look forward to building a relationship with them."  And for Scottish residents the new route will provide quicker and easier connections to one of Europe's leading oil centres.
