First New Flight from British Airways to San Diego Launches
British Airways Reintroduce Their San Diego Route
After almost eight years British Airways (BA) has re-launched their London Heathrow to San Diego route. Having cancelled the service back in 2003 due to poor business class demand and rising fuel costs, the new service made its maiden voyage last week, arriving in California on Wednesday 1st June.
The London Heathrow service to San Diego has been reincarnated for a third occasion, this time with airline bosses hoping that a new relationship with Iberia and American Airlines will allow enough seats to be sold to make the route successful. Making use of a Boeing 777, the new service has 204 economy seats, 24 premium economy and 48 business class fares, offering passengers a range of travel options.
Speaking of the new flights Keith Williams, chief executive officer of British Airways, said "California is one of our most popular destinations so we're delighted to be able to offer a third destination and give customers more choice. And with the state's importance in the technology sector we're sure this route will appeal to business customers too." With BA being the only airline in Europe to offer a direct service to the popular California city demand is expected to be high. Additionally with more seats to be made available on the airline's Las Vegas services, access to America's west is easier than ever before.
