Golf is one of the great pastimes in Britain, and this means that the perfect getaway is one where this hobby is actually part of the holiday. Whilst there are some great golf courses throughout the world, Spain has many on the very best. And, with the nation remaining one of Britain's favourites, Spain is an ideal summer hotspot.

Over the past 25 years golf in Spain has seen a huge increase in popularity, resulting in many high quality courses being built. Catalonia's Costa Brava is a great spot to explore, and with Barcelona on the doorstep, travellers can also indulge in sightseeing as well as golf. There is some beautiful golfing available, with Platja de Pals and Emporda both offering top courses.

On the outskirts of Girona travellers will find the Stadium Course at the PGA de Catalunya; a course regularly used on the European Tour. Booking a round here will offer memories of a lifetime, and having been named the fourth best course in Europe, golf enthusiasts will certainly be able to say that they have played somewhere with real status.

The Costa del Sol's Marbella is also a great destination for golf holidays and with locations such as the Marbella Golf & Country Club holidaymakers will be spoilt for choice. So if golfing is the ideal choice for a getaway, then spending time in Spain could be the perfect choice.
