Malaga A Top British Destination
Britain loving Malaga
EasyJet, the budget airline, has revealed that Malaga is one of the top holiday destinations for British travellers this summer. With British individuals looking to save money yet still take a holiday, ABTA said that bookings for Spanish destinations are 11 per cent higher this year.
Many Britons have been attempting to keep their expenses low due to the recession and rising prices. However, going on holiday remains a priority and for this reason individuals are increasingly looking for cheap deals. Of the top five spots visited by British holidaymakers this year, Spain took three, with Malaga first, Alicante second, and Barcelona fifth. Meanwhile Majorca and Portugal's Faro were also noted to be noting high interest.
UK director of easyJet, Paul Simmons, said "The sandy shores, blue seas and promise of sunshine keep Brits flocking to Spain year after year for a relaxing summer break." Meanwhile ABTA quoted the GfK-Ascent MI, which showed that bookings to Greece and Portugal had also risen by 2 and 8 per cent respectively.
With those setting off on short cruises also rising, British individuals are still taking holidays even though their household budgets may be a little tighter. And with European destinations offering easy and cheap getaways, Spain, and Malaga in particular, are noting increasing demand.
