Bulgaria Named 2011 Hotspot
Bulgaria is top spot for tourists
It has been revealed that, for British travellers wanting a cheap European holiday, Bulgaria is a top spot. Post Office Travel Money revealed that the nation came at the top of the 'bargain buys' list, providing those on a budget with the perfect getaway.
With flights to Sofia and Bourgas readily available, travel to Bulgaria can be found for relatively cheap fares. The Post Office revealed that the cost of regularly used holiday items such as pedalo rides, lilo's and jelly shoes were 50 per cent less in Bulgaria than in areas such as France's Vendee region. Other cheap holiday hotspots on the list were found to be Spain's Costa Blanca and Turkey, where ice cream was particularly cheap.
Talking of the findings Sarah Munro of Post Office Travel Money explained that people must be aware of beach accessory costs before they went on holiday as they can quickly start to mount up. "For families who haven't already booked, it's worth considering Bulgaria or a cheaper Eurozone destination like Portugal or Spain," she explained. And with the report showing that many parents forgot to factor holiday expenses into their travel plans, heading to a cheaper nation will ensure that a cheap getaway doesn't break the bank.
