Lanzarote and New Zealand Highlighted As Top Islands
The top island retreats have been revealed, with Lanzarote, New Zealand, and Malta highlighted in particular as great spots.
In a new report by travel experts, the world's top islands for holiday adventure have been revealed. For those wanting to stay within the confines of Europe, Lanzarote was highlighted as a fantastic option. Meanwhile, long distance travellers were advised to check out New Zealand's South Island.
Islands are on the list of the most popular holiday destinations for many. Not only do they offer abundant coastline to explore, but provide the extra feeling of exclusivity due to being away from the mainland. For British travellers wanting to remain in Europe, Lanzarote was specifically highlighted for island adventures, with its 35 million year old landscape offering great exploration and beach retreats. Meanwhile, Malta is also a prime spot and beautifully mixes Italian and Arab cultures, offering visitors a unique flavour. And with Mediterranean waters and Valletta's gorgeous architecture there are lots of attractions on offer.
For British travellers wanting to explore further afield New Zealand's South Island was placed as a top spot. With caves of glow worms, soaring mountains and glaciers, and Milford Sound fjord and national park it is an island not to be missed. Meanwhile, the islands of Hawaii, in particular Oahu with thriving Honolulu, are also a top spot. And with Saint Pierre, Miquelon, Isla Holbex and Singapore also all making the list, travellers have more than enough fantastic island locations to explore in their upcoming getaways.
