Spain and Greece Top Destinations for XL Family Holidays
An increasing number of British people are taking "XL family holidays."
It has been revealed in a new survey that an increasing number of British people are taking "XL family holidays" including extended family such as grandparents. With top holiday spots including Greece, Spain and France, one in four individuals are holidaying with up to six relatives.
With the economy continuing to put pressure on holiday budgets, enjoying an extended family holiday can be very beneficial, with groups able to book villas and apartments. In addition, adults can take turns in looking after children, allowing everyone to have time to relax and refresh themselves. Travel insurance esure revealed that holidaymakers believe that up to ú400 can be saved by holidaying together, adding savings to a list of benefits which also include spending time with extended family members.
In particular, demand for "XL family holidays" is being noted for nations such as Italy, Spain, Greece and France. Destinations such as Alicante, Athens and Nice already cater well to the family market. Head of esure's travel insurance, Nikki Sellers, said "Going away on holiday with several family members can have numerous benefits - there are plenty of people to have fun with, it can work out cheaper booking a villa for everyone and couples also get the chance to enjoy each other's company knowing their children are being entertained." And with British holidaymakers still prioritising holidays even though budgets may be considerably reduced, holidaying with bigger groups is set to become even more popular.
