One Million Travellers for Luton Airport
Luton Airport is becoming one of London's most popular travel hubs.
Luton Airport has been revealed to be enjoying increased popularity, with July seeing over a million passengers making use of the hub. With a 9 per cent increase in figures for the same period in 2010, Luton is now becoming one of London's most travelled to airports.
A host of new flights, including those from Monarch and Wizz Air, have been added to Luton's portfolio over the past year, attracting many passengers looking for competitively priced travel. For the first half of the year passenger numbers increased by 11.3 per cent, and with 72,172 charter and 948,318 scheduled passengers passing through in July, the airport looks set to continue increasing in popularity.
London Luton's managing director, Glyn Jones, said "More business and holiday travellers have come through London's fastest growing major airport due to the competitive airline partnerships we have attracted. We are now focused on further improving our infrastructure to ensure higher quality of service for our higher volumes of passengers."
Budapest, Malaga, Palma and Majorca were shown to be the most popular routes taken by passengers, indicating that July was a good month for Mediterranean holidays. And with Luton continuing to improve its transport links in and around the airport, the hub is set to become even more popular.
