Wildlife Safaris Top Holiday Enjoyed By British Individuals
The British loving wildlife safari holidays
A new study has revealed that British individuals love nothing more than to go on a wildlife safari as part of their holiday. The research conducted by Activity & Adventure Holidays asked 3,300 people what their favourite type of holiday was, with 10 per cent revealing that they were most interested in wildlife retreats.
Taking a poll at a variety of travel shows including The Outdoor Show, The Vitality Show and Destinations - The Holiday & Travel Show, it was shown that Wildlife and Safari retreats are the most sought after getaways. Coming second with 9 per cent of the votes cast was sightseeing tours, whilst trekking and walking holidays scored 8 per cent. Mombasa and Cape Town have seen an increase in flights in recent years, allowing keen travellers to make use of the cities as hubs for getting to Africa's national parks.
South African Tourism Board's Marketing and Communications Manager for UK Operations, Ntsiki Mpulo, said "Wildlife & safari holidays are increasingly popular because they offer travellers the opportunity to, not only step out of their everyday lives, but also to experience nature in a truly unique way." And with Mpulo adding that South African safaris in particular allowed visitors to get up close and personal with stunning wildlife, the coming years seem likely to see an increase in this tourist sector.
