New York Hotel Offers Resident Artwork
Resident artwork offered at New Yorks 718
For most travelling to New York, a stay in Manhattan is a must. However, over the past few years Brooklyn has steadily been increasing as a tourist hotspot, offering a fresh, new and trendy art scene instead of the Manhattan chic and shopping. And now for those wanting the perfect artistic hotel stay, Hotel 718 offers an original art concept like no other.
Many hotels prefer to decorate their rooms and hallways with original artwork, but Hotel 718 has gone a step further by spending over $100,000 on original pieces created by local artists. Located on Duffield Street and set to open later in 2011, 77 pieces have been selected from over 600 submissions so far, offering guests the chance to enjoy original collages, etchings, photographs and paintings.
V3 Hotels director of operations, Daniel Reznik, said "You see art in every hotel out there, and all of them are working with just generic art supply companies. We have no reason to go outside our own borough to supply art. We have a wonderful opportunity to tap into a very artistic and energetic community. It was an overwhelming response." And with the New York borough attracting tourists and artists from across the world, the new accommodation is set to be a hip new offering for lovers of the Brooklyn scene.
