BMI Set to Expand into Russia
BMI set services to Moscow as demand rises
Though it has previously been revealed that BMI have lost six daily airport slots at Heathrow to British Airways, it was been announced that the company are looking to expand their portfolio to improve the numbers of Russian destinations. Having traditionally focused on short haul flights, BMI is set to provide services to Moscow and other Russian cities as demand rises for business fares in particular.
Since its launch in 1949, BMI has focused on short haul and domestic services, offering British travellers a range of cheap flights to make use of. However the firm have revealed the importance of the Russian market to them, announcing that they were to focus on more medium haul routes. The airline currently runs four daily services between Moscow and London, providing both leisure and business passengers with well-timed flights so as to allow them to get the most from their trips. But with interest in the area increasing, BMI are set to raise flight numbers in the coming months and years.
With British tourists keeping holidays high on the list of priorities whilst also wishing to explore newer and more unusual destinations, Moscow in particular could be set to see a rise in British tourism. And with BMI wanting to diversify and expand its market, Russian destinations are set to become more accessible.
