Manchester set to gain flights from Dhaka

Manchester is to gain direct flights to Bangladesh's Dhaka, when it starts to offer what will be the airports longest flight. At approximately 10 hours in length, the services will be provided by Biman Bangladesh, offering those in the area an alternative airline to Emirates.

Currently the only route to Dhaka from Manchester is with Emirates, with flights stopping off in Dubai for onward journeys. However, from November, Biman Bangladesh will provide a twice weekly service on Saturdays and Wednesdays to the Bangladeshi city. Inbound services will travel via London Heathrow, whilst outbound services will offer direct travel.

The Northern UK's regional manager for Biman Bangladesh, Mohammed Salahuddin, said "We're looking to provide a better schedule regularity and ensure the highest standards of safety. By adding Manchester into its network, Biman has put itself firmly in the competition in the North, which has long been favoured by other airlines. We will be the only airline to operate non-stop flights between UK and Bangladesh from the 2nd November 2011." Flights will be operated aboard a B777-300ER, offering both Economy and Business Class fares. And with Bangladesh offering some fantastic holiday options for British individuals as well as those travelling home to see family members, the service is expected to see high demand.
