Overseas Holidays Remain Popular with British Families
Brittish Families Favour Oversea Holidays
A new survey has revealed that overseas holidays are very popular with British families, with a huge proportion of children having travelled all over the world. Whilst the family favourites of Paris, Madrid and Los Angeles were enjoyed, British cities failed to attract residents wanting a getaway.
With many families preparing to book winter holidays, the new survey conducted by a Travelodge showed that 40% of children aged between six and 16 had been to Paris. Madrid had been enjoyed by approximately 25%, whilst a third of British children had been to American hot spots, including New York and Los Angeles. However, British cities lagged behind and whilst London remained a popular favourite, only 17% and 14% of the age group surveyed had been to Edinburgh and Cardiff respectively.
With a great range of cheap flights catering to families who wanted swift access to travel, and with many seeking the climates of warmer and more exciting destinations, it is unsurprising that many families are heading abroad. Spokeswoman for Travelodge, Shakila Ahmed, warned "If we don't invest in discovering the cities that make Great Britain great, these cities will be lost to future generations." However, with holiday costs remaining low in many places and the attraction of an exciting trip aboard a lure for many, overseas getaways are as popular as ever for parents with young children.
